Catching Up

Lately I am feeling constanly behind. I don’t feel thirty, I have side work to do, my garage is a mess, the windows need framing, there’s photos to put up, my office is another mess, I haven’t worked out in two months, and I’m a day late turning in my hours from last week. This is the norm for me, and it’s enough to make me start seeking out ways to Get Things Done.

The most promising of these ways has been a weblog called 43 Folders, which shares a process for dealing with the disorganization of one’s life called (funnily enough) Getting Things Done. All I’ve been able to do with it so far is read a few posts, but my goal tonight is to find a place to sit down in my office and dig in. Life’s too short, and I simply need to get… uh… things done.

Last week was a good one for me – The whole birthday thing was a nice little milestone. Beetle, Dean, Mark, and I dragged ourselves up Mailbox Peak, which we summitted in a windy cold fog. A great way to start out a birthday. Back home the boys and Amy presented me with some great presents – a new headlamp, cookset , lantern, flip-flops… too perfect. We spent the afternoon at REI and picked up a few other bits and pieces, and finished by hangin out at home together. It was perfectly relaxing, and just nice to not work and go to bed so late. I’ll have to do that more often.
